Lana Del Rey Inspired Makeup Tutorial
Written by Christina Lumia
Although she may be best known as the queen of alternative, I believe there is another part of Lana Del Rey that makes her so intriguing: her look. Her 60’s inspired aesthetic is what makes her so recognizable, and her makeup is a huge part of this. If you would like to replicate her vintage look, keep reading!
Step #1: Most of her makeup is down with very neutral shades, so I suggest using any palette full of neutral matte shadows. Using an angled liner brush, take a dark brown on your crease.
Step #2: Next, pack a champagne color onto your lid.
Step #3: Now this is the most important step of them all: the eyeliner. You can use any felt or liquid eyeliner for this look, but my personal favorite is NYX’s Epic Ink Liner. Take your liner and go thickly go across the upper lash line and wing it out for a bold cat-eye.
Step #4: Using the same shade you used on your crease, gently buff on your lower lash line.
Step #5: Add a big, bold pair of false eyelashes to complete the eye look.
Step #6: Onto the face. Now, Lana is known for her upturned nose (which has been the subject of argument over whether or not it’s real). To recreate her nose, use a small brush and a cream contour. My favorite cream contour is Fenty Beauty’s Matchstick. With the brush, go down the sides of the nose, along the sides of the nostrils, and the tip between the nostrils to create an up-turned effect. Then, blend it out.
Step #7: Using a cream contour and a contour brush, chisel out your cheeks then blend.
Step #8: Take a bright red lipstick, and slightly overline your lips. Then, take a slightly deeper lip liner and outline. Make sure to exaggerate the cupid’s bow!
And that’s it! Now, you’re ready to sway mysteriously, pretend you’re in the ‘60s and cry!
